Dorothy Wingate

Dorothy Pearl Wingate, 93, of Hilo, died Dec. 10 (2022) at the Life Care Center of Hilo. She was born in Hilo and was a homemaker and a member of the Kinoole Baptist Church. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Tuesday (March 28) at the Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation also 10-11 a.m. Wednesday (March 29) at the Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Committal service will follow at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2 Pavilion. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. May Takata

May Masano Takata, 89, of Hilo, passed away on February 28, 2023 at Hilo Medical Center. She was born January 2, 1934 in Japan.She is survived by son, Thomas T. Takata; daughters, Ava (Larry) Morgan and Noreen (Toshihiko) Tanaka; sister, Yokie Yamagishi; in addition to several grandchildren.Private services held. Arrangements by Ballard Family Mortuary.

Kevin Field

Kevin W Field, 54, of Waimea passed away on Mar. 2 at the North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Anaheim, California, he was a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at the North Hawaii Community Hospital and formerly practiced at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass, Oregon, Group Health and Virginia Mason in Seattle, Washington, Harrison Medical Center and Naval Hospital in Bremerton, Washington, and the VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Survived by wife, Jennifer Field, father, Vic (Sandy) Field; mother, Betty (Dave) Hull; sister, Stacy Brereton; brother, Shawn (Autumn) Field; in-law, Chris (Jen) Coombs. Stephanie Castillo

Stephanie Jean Castillo, 74, of Hilo and formerly of Kauai, died Mar. 8 at her residence. Born in Honolulu, she was an Emmy Award winning independent film maker. A celebration of her life will take place from 1 p.m. Sunday (May 28, 2023) at the Lydgate Beach Park Main Pavilion on Kauai. Casual attire. Gary Tamostsu Nakagawa, 60, of Hilo died Mar. 11 at his residence. He was born in Honolulu. Private services. Gerald “Jerry” Agapito Asuncion, 76, of Hilo, Passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at residence, born on August 19, 1946, in Hilo; he was a Warehouseman for The Burke Company, Wire Products, HD Supply and White Cap Construction Supply.
